The Opportunity
We are working with a leading engineering and construction firm specialising in the delivery of complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects across Australia. With a strong pipeline of secured work in Victoria, they are looking to appoint a Principal Civil Engineer to play a key role in both technical leadership and project delivery.

This is an opportunity to step into a highly visible position, influencing major programmes while supporting the growth and development of high-performing engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the civil design and delivery of large-scale water and wastewater infrastructure projects across Victoria
  • Act as a technical authority across projects, ensuring high-quality, fit-for-purpose engineering outcomes
  • Oversee design management from concept through to detailed design and construction support
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients including utilities, government bodies, and contractors
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers, contributing to capability uplift within the team
  • Support bid development, including technical input, methodology, and risk identification
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across structural, mechanical, and process engineering
  • Provide strategic input into project planning, constructability, and delivery methodologies

Key Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Proven experience delivering water and wastewater infrastructure projects within Australia
  • Strong understanding of Victorian water authorities and regulatory frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior or lead engineering capacity
  • Chartership (CPEng) or working towards is highly regarded
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and client relationship management skills
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to contribute to bids and project performance
