Position Summary
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced geotechnical engineer ready to step into a Group Manager / Principal-level role. The position combines technical leadership, team mentorship, and business ownership, offering the opportunity to shape and grow a practice within a well-established and expanding organization.
You will play a central role in driving client relationships, winning and delivering work, and developing a high-performing team. This role is ideally suited to an entrepreneurial professional seeking both autonomy and long-term growth within a stable, project-rich environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of geotechnical engineers and project staff
- Foster a high-performance, collaborative team environment
- Contribute to recruitment, staff development, and retention
Business Development & Practice Growth
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships across the Pacific Northwest
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leading proposals and negotiations
- Take ownership of revenue growth and overall performance of the geotechnical group
Project & Technical Oversight
- Provide senior-level oversight on geotechnical projects, ensuring technical quality and successful delivery
- Serve as Principal-in-Charge on key projects
- Guide teams on complex geotechnical challenges and design decisions
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (advanced degree preferred)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 12+ years of geotechnical engineering experience
- Experience working within the Pacific Northwest region strongly preferred
- Proven track record in business development and client management
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and delivering projects
- Strong technical expertise across geotechnical engineering disciplines
