Project Manager - Building Automation
Position Title: Project Manager
Organizes Service Projects
Accepts projects from Administration, completes required documentation, analyzes timelines, and defines project requirements. Coordinates with Operations Supervisors, Engineering, and Programming teams to ensure accurate scheduling and commissioning workload planning.
Hires Electrical Subcontractors
Reviews bids, collaborates with Sales, prepares and maintains subcontract documentation, and ensures proper execution of subcontract agreements.
Orders Project Materials
Processes material requisitions, coordinates with suppliers and panel builders, schedules deliveries aligned with project needs, and communicates storage requirements with customers.
Directs Electrical Subcontractors
Reviews project scope, contracts, and specifications with subcontractors. Communicates timelines, sets priorities, answers questions, enforces installation standards, and verifies work completion.
Manages Project Billing
Coordinates with Administration to generate accurate billing and works with customers to meet billing requirements.
Communicates Project Information
Maintains communication with Engineering, Programming, Technicians, and Operations. Performs site visits, documents progress, attends meetings, updates schedules, and manages change orders including pricing and execution.
Completes Service Projects
Supports technicians with scheduling and startup activities, facilitates coordination with Engineering for system adjustments, manages project closeout documentation, transfers as-built data, completes service turnover, and conducts owner training.
Achieves Financial Objectives
Reviews labor cost reports with Operations Management and initiates corrective actions as necessary.
Maintains Technical Knowledge
Stays current through training, industry publications, and internal resources. Maintains knowledge of HVAC systems, DDC systems, installation practices, and project management principles.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to manage multiple service projects
Knowledge of HVAC mechanical and DDC systems
Capability to handle small projects independently
Limited travel flexibility
Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
Strong written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)
Quality Control Responsibilities
Ensures compliance with safety standards, enforces proper installation and commissioning methods, verifies documentation accuracy, confirms completion of project tasks, and communicates required corrections to Operations Management.
Team Contribution
Leads by example, promotes a positive work environment, participates in progress meetings, supports team objectives, and shares technical and installation knowledge.
Education and Experience
Associate degree in Engineering (preferred, not required)
Experience with DDC system installation and startup
Project management experience
