The Opportunity:
A leading consulting firm is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with an established career in structural engineering and project management. The selected candidate will work on a variety of building, infrastructure, and miscellaneous structure projects for municipal, educational, industrial, and commercial clients. This role requires technical excellence, a track record of producing thorough and well-coordinated design documents, self-motivation, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to high-quality work.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the Structural department staff to conceptualize economical structural systems for various project types.
- Apply expertise in materials, structural analysis, and design to a wide variety of materials, including structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, prestressed concrete, and wood/timber systems.
- Occasionally manage project teams of structural staff.
- Assist in developing marketing fees and proposals with other technical staff and potential teaming partners.
- Develop high-quality design drawings and specifications using structural design principles.
- Demonstrate competency with standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, and ACI 318.
- Exercise excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering, with a Structural emphasis.
- PE license in Michigan or the ability to obtain by reciprocity.
- Ten years of experience in Structural Engineering consulting.
- Familiarity with modeling in a BIM environment (preferably with Revit software).
- Experience with analytical/design software such as RISA, RAM, and Tedds.
- Familiarity with standards such as AISC 341, ACI 350, ACI 530, and NDS.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform light lifting, sitting, and walking.
- Capable of traveling to and from project sites and using a computer.
- Ability to access and maneuver around project sites.
- Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
