PV Electrical Designer
Company Summary: A leading electrical engineering & construction company headquartered in San Jose, CA is looking to bring on a PV Electrical Designer. The company works on utility scale projects up to 500MW+ and provides turnkey electrical solutions to their clients. The team has significant experience in utility-scale solar and battery storage projects across the US. As a PV Electrical Designer, you will be working independently on designs and engineering techniques and procedures. This role works closely with the project management and field installation teams throughout the construction process. Additionally, this role will be based out of San Jose, CA or Remote!
Responsibilities:
Perform electrical design tasks under the direction of Lead or Supervising Engineers.
Independently design construction drawings for AC/DC systems, grounding, DAS, site plans, and layouts.
Prepare and execute electrical infrastructure calculations for PV systems, including equipment and conductor sizing.
Assemble and deliver design drawings and documentation.
Support design and construction phases through meetings, submittal reviews, RFIs, AHJ comments, and QA/QC processes.
- May supervise the work of other Designers and CAD drafters
Qualifications:
- BS in Electrical Engineering or related
Strong understanding of NEC and NESC for commercial and utility-scale power system design.
Expert proficiency in AutoCAD and advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
Experience with or knowledge of ETAP, Cymcap, and PVsyst software (preferred).
- 4+ years design experience on PV projects
