Job Description

Position: Regional Interconnection Manager
Location: Remote

Overview:
The Regional Interconnection Manager plays a key role in shaping strategic transmission assessments and managing the interconnection process in target markets across the U.S. This position supports development initiatives by analyzing new markets and addressing transmission-related topics such as tariffs, planning, accessibility, and interconnection procedures. The role includes hiring and managing consultants and subject matter experts to support the company's development strategy.

Main Responsibilities:

New Market Planning and Analysis

  • Develop and maintain strategic and tactical plans for new markets in collaboration with development and origination teams
  • Assess tariffs, planning, accessibility, and interconnection processes for new markets
  • Identify and manage external consultants as needed

Project Development and Siting

  • Analyze utility system loading and interconnection costs to support project siting
  • Evaluate interconnection and gen-tie options to optimize cost, schedule, and risk
  • Support PPA, financing, and project sale processes with interconnection insights

Interconnection Process Management

  • Lead interconnection negotiations and agreements from siting through execution
  • Conduct or oversee power flow simulations to forecast system conditions
  • Develop commercial strategies to optimize project outcomes
  • Manage consultants and ensure quality of application deliverables and utility reviews
  • Build relationships with utilities, ISOs, and industry stakeholders
  • Advise senior management on interconnection-related risks and opportunities

Due Diligence

  • Conduct or supervise due diligence for project acquisitions, focusing on interconnection and transmission risks

Policy and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent the company in interactions with utilities, ISOs, regulators, and industry groups
  • Review and report on utility transmission planning documents
  • Evaluate and advise on the impact of new legislation and regulations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (power systems focus preferred); Master's in Engineering, Energy Policy, or Business is a plus
  • 8-10 years of experience in transmission planning and power generation interconnections
  • Strong background in utility planning and project siting
  • Expertise in interconnection tariffs, agreements, and processes
  • Proficiency in power flow modeling and analysis
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing skills
  • Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and negotiation abilities
  • Proven project and people management experience
  • High energy and a positive, feedback-receptive attitude
