Roadway Engineer
Location: Hamden, CT
An industry‑leading engineering firm is expanding its Transportation group and seeking a Roadway Engineer to support roadway and multimodal infrastructure projects across Connecticut. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative team delivering impactful projects for municipal, regional, and state clients.
Responsibilities
- Support roadway and intersection design projects, including geometric design and plan development.
- Prepare construction documents using Civil 3D, AutoCAD, OpenRoads Designer, and/or MicroStation.
- Assist with traffic analysis, traffic impact studies, and multimodal evaluations.
- Contribute to traffic signal design and integration of ITS components.
- Prepare clear design reports, technical memos, and documentation.
- Participate in client and stakeholder meetings.
- Lead small tasks or projects and support junior staff development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- 3-5 years of roadway or transportation engineering experience.
- E.I.T. required; P.E. or ability to obtain preferred.
- Experience with Connecticut agencies or municipalities a plus.
- Familiarity with MUTCD, AASHTO, PROWAG, and HCM.
- Proficiency with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, OpenRoads Designer, and/or MicroStation.
- Working knowledge of Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, VISSIM, or AutoTurn helpful.
- Strong communication skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines.
