About the Opportunity
A nationally recognized engineering and infrastructure consulting firm is seeking a Senior Bridge Hydraulic Engineer to join its growing team in Duluth, Georgia.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced hydraulic engineer to take a lead role in the delivery of bridge hydraulic and hydrologic studies, mentor junior staff, and support a wide range of transportation infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, project management experience, and a passion for delivering innovative solutions for complex hydraulic challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage hydraulic engineering projects, including resource allocation, budgeting, and schedule development.
- Lead and perform bridge hydraulic studies utilizing both 1D and 2D modeling techniques.
- Conduct bridge scour analyses and develop preliminary bridge layouts.
- Perform culvert analyses and hydraulic design for transportation projects.
- Prepare FEMA floodplain and regulatory floodway modeling studies.
- Complete coastal and storm surge modeling analyses.
- Support the design and modeling of miscellaneous drainage structures.
- Review and perform quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) on hydraulic studies and engineering deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and design standards.
- Mentor and train developing engineers in bridge hydraulics, culvert design, and drainage engineering.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary transportation and bridge design teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum of 10 years of hydraulic and hydrologic engineering experience.
- Proven experience delivering bridge and transportation-related hydraulic projects.
- Strong project management and leadership capabilities.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
Preferred Technical Experience
Experience with the following software and tools is highly desired:
- HEC-RAS
- SRH-2D
- OpenBridge
- MicroStation
- AutoCAD
- Bluebeam
Additional experience with:
- FEMA floodway coordination and permitting
- Bridge scour analysis
- Floodplain modeling
- Hydraulic and hydrologic studies
