Senior Civil/Municipal Project Manager

This role offers a rewarding opportunity for a civil engineering professional to serve as a trusted advisor to municipal clients. The position involves managing development reviews, supporting capital improvement programs, and acting as an embedded municipal engineer. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative mindset to help shape thriving communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review engineering submittals and development plans for compliance with municipal standards
- Provide responsive support to municipal staff, elected officials, developers, and the public
- Evaluate stormwater, grading, utility, and transportation aspects of development proposals
- Coordinate with internal teams and external agencies on permitting and project execution
- Prepare technical reports, budgets, and inter-governmental agreements
- Manage and inspect capital improvement and development projects
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process improvement initiatives
- Assist with grant and loan applications, utility rate studies, and EPA reporting
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois or ability to obtain within 12 months
- 4+ years of experience in municipal engineering or development review
- Strong knowledge of stormwater, water/wastewater systems, and transportation infrastructure
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills
- Experience with site development, permitting, and construction inspection preferred
- Ability to travel throughout the region using personal transportation
