Senior Engineer

Summary

As a Senior Engineer, you will collaborate closely with the Manager of Engineering to lead technical and execution aspects of energy project development. This includes technologies such as combined cycle gas turbines (CCGT), simple cycle gas turbines (SCGT), reciprocating gas engines, solar PV, energy storage systems, and other emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Feasibility & Selection: Evaluate technical feasibility of proposed sites for generation and interconnection facilities.
  • Technology Assessment: Analyze and recommend optimal technologies and OEMs for each project.
  • Plant Design & Modeling: Develop plant designs and performance models in collaboration with OEMs, Owner's Engineers, and EPC contractors.
  • Interconnection Strategy: Lead technical input and sizing for interconnection requests and ISO studies.
  • Infrastructure Evaluation: Identify viable options for electrical, fuel, water, telecom, and access infrastructure.
  • Site Drawings Development: Create site layouts, grading plans, SWPPPs, elevations, and other drawings for permitting and development.
  • Permitting Support: Assist Project Managers with technical permit compliance and documentation.
  • Project Finance Support: Contribute technical data to financial models, manage Independent Engineer (IE) reviews, and support financial close processes.
  • Construction & Transition: Facilitate knowledge transfer to execution teams and provide engineering support during construction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, Facilities, or related field.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience in power plant design, operation, and infrastructure interconnection.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with transmission planning and FERC interconnection processes.
  • Expertise in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid systems, and power plant design standards (IBC, NEC, ASME, NFPA).
  • Proficiency in technical drawings including P&IDs, electrical one-lines, wiring schedules, and SCADA diagrams.
