Role Overview
This senior‑level position sits within the firm's mission‑critical engineering group, focusing on hyperscale data centers and other high‑reliability environments. The Senior Lead Electrical Engineer will serve as both a technical leader and project driver-overseeing full‑cycle electrical design, guiding multidisciplinary teams, and partnering directly with internal leadership and clients. This role offers substantial autonomy, visibility, and the chance to lead complex assignments while helping shape engineering standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Design Leadership (40%)
- Execute advanced engineering and electrical system design from concept through construction documentation.
- Develop electrical distribution systems, topologies, infrastructure layouts, and equipment sizing/selection.
- Direct and mentor project engineers in producing high‑quality drawings and specifications.
- Prepare and review technical specifications, sequences of operations, and design narratives.
- Lead project scoping, scheduling, budgeting, and design team coordination.
- Identify scope changes, manage risk, and support QA/QC reviews on projects across the portfolio.
- Utilize AutoCAD and Revit to prepare drawings, system layouts, and technical deliverables.
Construction Support & Field Activities (20%)
- Conduct site surveys, assess existing building conditions, and prepare detailed technical reports.
- Generate construction documents and collaborate closely with project management teams.
- Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, punch lists, and closeout documentation.
- Evaluate and approve change order requests and ensure construction execution aligns with design intent.
Client & Stakeholder Management (20%)
- Serve as a primary client contact-ensuring alignment with project goals, quality standards, and firm values.
- Support business development initiatives, including client presentations and program‑level coordination.
- Contribute to technical research and development for conference presentations and publications.
Organizational Leadership & Development (20%)
- Mentor and train engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Contribute to internal standards, best practices, and long‑term strategic planning.
- Participate in hiring efforts and help shape departmental policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of electrical topologies for mission‑critical facilities.
- Expertise in building electrical systems: power distribution (single & three‑phase), grounding, life safety, and lighting controls.
- Strong understanding of NEC, life safety codes, and energy codes.
- Proficiency with engineering software for short‑circuit, arc flash, coordination studies, equipment sizing, and lighting calculations.
- Strong Revit skills and ability to produce detailed, high‑quality drawings.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interface directly with clients.
- Ability to thrive in a remote environment-organized, proactive, and self‑directed.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited) and a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum 13 years of electrical engineering experience, ideally within mission‑critical or complex infrastructure environments.
- Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to improve processes and support innovation.
