Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Plumbing Estimator to join our team in Charlotte, NC. This role is responsible for developing accurate cost estimates for commercial and/or residential plumbing projects, supporting preconstruction efforts, and helping secure profitable work in a competitive and growing regional market.
Key Responsibilities
Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents for plumbing systems
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for piping, fixtures, equipment, and related systems
Prepare accurate cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
Solicit and analyze quotes from vendors and subcontractors
Identify value engineering opportunities to optimize costs without compromising quality
Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and preconstruction teams
Attend pre-bid meetings, job walks, and site visits as required
Maintain current knowledge of Charlotte-area pricing, market conditions, and industry trends
Ensure compliance with local plumbing codes and regulations
Support project turnover to operations team upon award
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in plumbing estimating (commercial experience preferred)
Strong understanding of plumbing systems, including domestic water, sanitary, storm, and gas piping
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and blueprints
Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Trimble, FastPIPE, Bluebeam, or similar)
Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with healthcare, multifamily, commercial, or industrial plumbing projects
Familiarity with Charlotte-area subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
Knowledge of North Carolina plumbing codes and permitting processes
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required)
