The Company
Our client is a leading infrastructure delivery business with a strong presence across New South Wales, specialising in complex water and wastewater projects for public utilities and private sector clients. With a growing pipeline of major projects across Sydney and regional NSW, they are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of critical infrastructure programs.
The Role
As a Senior Project Manager, you will take full accountability for the successful delivery of water and wastewater projects, from early contractor involvement through to construction execution and handover. You will operate as the key interface between clients, internal delivery teams, and subcontractors, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
This role will suit a commercially astute leader who thrives in complex, multi-disciplinary environments and is comfortable managing large-scale civil and utilities infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment plants, pipelines, pumping stations, and network upgrades
- Manage project P&L, ensuring strong commercial outcomes and cost control across all phases
- Drive project planning, programming, and risk management strategies in line with contractual obligations
- Act as the primary client interface, maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders including Sydney Water and local authorities
- Lead, mentor, and develop project teams across engineering, site, and commercial functions
- Oversee procurement strategy and subcontractor management, ensuring alignment with programme and budget
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards across all project activities
- Provide leadership in resolving complex technical and delivery challenges
- Contribute to bid and tender processes, including methodology development and project planning
Key Requirements
- Proven experience delivering water and wastewater infrastructure projects within the Australian market
- Strong background in civil construction, with exposure to treatment plants, pipelines, and utilities infrastructure
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale projects (typically $50M+), including full P&L responsibility
- Strong understanding of contract management (e.g. D&C, alliancing, EPC)
- Established relationships within NSW water utilities or infrastructure clients (highly regarded)
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
- Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
