Substation Physical Design Engineer

We're seeking a mid- to senior-level electrical engineer to contribute to the design and analysis of high-voltage substations, including both new builds and retrofit projects. This role involves technical leadership, detailed design work, and collaboration across disciplines to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform engineering estimates and design analysis for substation projects up to 765kV.
• Develop and revise physical layouts, equipment specifications, and structural designs.
• Create detailed drawings including site plans, elevations, grounding, conduit, lighting, and control building layouts.
• Conduct calculations for grounding systems, voltage drop, circuit capacity, lightning protection, and auxiliary system sizing.
• Track progress against project budgets and schedules.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align project requirements.
• Provide guidance and oversight to junior engineers and designers.
• Ensure all deliverables meet internal and client quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 4+ years of experience in substation design.
• Strong understanding of industry standards and engineering practices.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license or eligibility to obtain one within 6 months is preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation is a plus.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Effective communication skills and a commitment to teamwork.
