Sustainability Manager

We are seeking a Sustainability Manager to support and advance our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives. This role is ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to make a tangible impact on Japan's decarbonization goals.
Your Role
As Sustainability Manager, you will work closely with the Head of Sustainability to implement and enhance our Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS), ensuring alignment with both local regulations and international standards such as the IFC Performance Standards. You will:
- Collaborate across departments to monitor and report on ESG performance and sustainability KPIs.
- Oversee occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance, particularly with contractors and O&M partners.
- Provide ESG input throughout the project lifecycle-from early development and due diligence to construction and operations.
- Act as a liaison with local communities and contribute to community investment strategies.
- Support the organization and management of the internal Sustainability Committee and ESG-related budgeting.
What You Bring
- Fluency in both Japanese and English
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in Japan, ideally in the energy or infrastructure sectors
- Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills
- Familiarity with Japanese EIA/EMS processes and ESG frameworks
- Willingness to travel domestically (and occasionally internationally)
- ESG or ESIA certification is advantageous
- Experience with ESG aspects of project finance and infrastructure development is welcomed
