Water Resources Engineer - Ecological Restoration
Our client, a respected environmental consulting firm, is seeking a Water Resources Engineer with a strong background in stream restoration to join their team. This full-time position offers a hybrid work schedule-two days per week in the office, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of the week.
The successful candidate will bring at least five years of experience in stream and watershed restoration, along with a collaborative approach and a passion for ecological improvement. This role involves working on a variety of restoration projects across Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic region.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading and supporting stream restoration design projects from concept through construction
- Conducting field assessments, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and geomorphic analyses
- Preparing engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates
- Coordinating with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams
- Mentoring junior staff and contributing to project proposals and business development
Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in stream restoration or related water resources work
- Proficiency in HEC-RAS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, and other relevant tools
- PE license preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months
- Strong communication and project management skills
