A well-established civil engineering firm with a strong presence across California is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join its San Diego team. The firm delivers a diverse range of flood control, drainage, and water resources projects for public and private sector clients throughout the region.

Position Overview

This role focuses on the analysis, planning, and design of flood control and drainage systems. The successful candidate will contribute to technically complex projects involving hydrology and hydraulics, working within a collaborative team environment and supporting project delivery from initial studies through final design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for drainage and flood control systems

  • Develop and apply H&H models for rainfall/runoff, open channel, and stormwater systems

  • Support the design of hydraulic structures, conveyance systems, and floodplain improvements

  • Conduct field inspections, data collection, and system assessments

  • Prepare technical reports, mapping, and engineering documentation

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and public agency clients

  • Support project delivery across planning, analysis, and design phases

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's preferred)

  • 5+ years of experience in water resources, flood control, or drainage engineering

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in California (or ability to obtain)

  • Experience with H&H modeling tools such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, or similar

  • Proficiency with GIS and AutoCAD/Civil 3D

  • Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills

Compensation

  • $120,000 - $165,000 base salary, depending on experience and qualifications

  • Performance-based bonus opportunity
