Salary Range:
$150,000.00 to $200,000.00 annually, depending on experience.


Job Summary:

This leadership role involves managing and executing a variety of water resource-related engineering, planning, design, construction, and permitting projects. Responsibilities include developing project scopes, budgets, and schedules, attending meetings, presenting to clients, and overseeing technical staff. The position supports local, regional, and state-level clients in achieving their goals.


Essential Functions:

  • Lead initiatives in areas such as water/wastewater, watershed planning, urban drainage, and water supply planning.
  • Serve as a technical specialist applying advanced engineering concepts and methods.
  • Engage with internal leadership, clients, contractors, and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key professionals and organizations.
  • Represent the firm in communications related to engineering projects.
  • Define program objectives and prepare proposals for funding.
  • Deliver project outputs including technical reports, design plans, and specifications.
  • Conduct QA/QC and improve internal processes.
  • Expand the client base through networking and relationship-building.
  • Collaborate with other practice leaders on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Manage staff resources and ensure project alignment with team capacity.
  • Lead strategic planning for the Water Resources Group.
  • Stay informed on regulatory changes and industry developments.
  • Develop standards and guidelines for water resources projects.

  • Deep knowledge of water, wastewater, and stormwater systems and regulations.
  • Subject matter expertise in areas such as treatment systems, stream restoration, watershed planning, and FEMA floodplain processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and relevant technical software.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and other offices.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee engineering staff and technical support teams.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers.
  • Review and approve scopes, budgets, and schedules.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in civil or environmental engineering with a focus on water resources, hydrology, geomorphology, or hydraulics.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in water resources engineering.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in Colorado or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) preferred.
  • PE licensure in multiple states is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of municipal, state, and federal criteria.
  • Experience with relevant policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record check.
