Activation Manager/Program Manager - Healthcare (On-site)
Program Manager - Healthcare Activation (Two-Campus Project)
Salary: $150,000+
Location: Alexandria / Springfield, VA (Full-time, on-site)
About the company
I'm partnered with a specialist consultancy focused purely on healthcare activation and facility readiness. They work exclusively with health systems and hospital operators to bridge the gap between construction completion and a fully operational, patient-ready facility.
Their team is small, senior, and highly regarded in the healthcare activation space, brought in on some of the most complex hospital openings in the country. They operate as a trusted extension of their clients' teams rather than a traditional consultancy.
The role
This is a full-time, on-site opportunity supporting a two-campus healthcare project across Alexandria and Springfield, VA. You'll take an "umbrella" leadership position overseeing the Facility Readiness scope and acting as the central liaison between all project stakeholders.
A unique aspect of this role: you'll be an employee of the consultancy but will "act like" an employee of the client. You'll carry two laptops (one for each organisation) and two email addresses, giving you full access to both project ecosystems and making you the true connective tissue on the ground.
Day to day, you'll:
- Own delivery of the Facility Readiness scope across both campuses.
- Act as the primary liaison between Design & Construction, the consultancy's Activation Managers, the Transition Planning firm, the Equipment Planning firm, the General Contractor, and the client team (including the PM and Project Sponsor).
- Coordinate schedules, dependencies, and hand-offs across all readiness workstreams.
- Represent the consultancy internally at the client, while representing the client externally to the wider project team.
- Escalate risks, resolve blockers, and drive alignment across a large, multi-party project.
Requirements
Needed
- Proven experience leading Facility Readiness, Activation, or Transition Planning on large-scale healthcare construction projects.
- Strong background operating in an "owner's representative" or client-embedded capacity.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple external firms (D&C, GC, transition planning, equipment planning) into a single, cohesive readiness plan.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, comfortable operating across clinical, construction, and executive audiences.
- Willingness and ability to be on-site full-time across the two Alexandria/Springfield, VA campuses.
Preferred
- Prior experience on multi-campus or replacement hospital projects.
- Familiarity with the interplay between transition planning, medical equipment planning, and GC schedules.
- Background with a health system, AEC firm, or specialist activation consultancy.
- PMP, LEAN, or equivalent project management certification.
- Experience embedding within a client organisation as an external resource.
Why join
- A senior, highly visible role on a complex, high-profile two-campus project.
- Genuine umbrella ownership of Facility Readiness, not a siloed workstream.
- Work directly at the intersection of every major project partner, giving you influence across the entire delivery model.
- Join a specialist team with a strong national reputation in healthcare activation.
- Competitive compensation starting at $150k+, reflecting the seniority and scope of the role.
