About the Role
As an Automation Engineer, you'll be responsible for the full lifecycle of control systems for water and wastewater facilities-from design and programming to installation, testing, and support. You'll work closely with clients to deliver tailored solutions that meet their operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and specify automation solutions based on client requirements
- Program and test PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems in-house
- Perform fieldwork including instrumentation setup, system installation, and process startup
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide emergency support (phone response within 15 minutes when on-call)
- Occasionally lift equipment up to 50 lbs
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology from an ABET-accredited program
- 5+ years of experience in electrical/control systems design, programming, and fieldwork
- Proficiency with Allen-Bradley Logix PLCs and PanelView HMIs
- Experience with SCADA platforms (e.g., FactoryTalk View SE, Ignition, Wonderware, VTSCADA, iFix)
- Strong networking and computer literacy
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to travel locally with personal transportation (reimbursed)
