About the Role

A well-established architecture and engineering firm in the South Puget Sound region is seeking a mid-level Civil Project Engineer to support federal and local government site development projects. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys owning design tasks across multiple project phases and working closely with public agencies.

The position focuses primarily on government-funded projects, including federal (DoD), state, county, and municipal work. You'll play a key role in civil site design, coordination, and documentation from early planning through construction.


What You'll Do

  • Support and contribute to civil site design for public-sector projects
  • Prepare grading, stormwater, sewer, and water plans
  • Perform stormwater modeling and calculations using Western Washington standards and software
  • Assist with and/or prepare Technical Information Reports (TIRs) and jurisdictional submittals
  • Coordinate with internal team members, clients, and reviewing agencies
  • Take projects through schematic design, design development, and construction support
  • Manage tasks with moderate oversight in a collaborative, small-team environment

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (required)
  • 5-8 years of civil engineering experience, primarily on public-sector projects
  • EIT required; PE in Washington State preferred (or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe)
  • Experience with:
    • Stormwater design and calculations (Western Washington)
    • Grading, utilities, and site development plans
    • Stormwater conveyance and detention systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and motivated to work both independently and within a team

Nice to Have

  • Experience working on federal projects (DoD, USACE, NAVFAC, etc.)
  • Familiarity with local and regional jurisdictional requirements
  • Interest in long-term growth into increased project responsibility

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $85,000-$125,000 DOE
  • 401(k) with safe harbor company match (eligible after 6 months)
