Electrical Substation HV Engineer - Data Center Developer
We have an exciting opening for any experienced electrical engineers with a background in substation design or electrical MV/HV design on the power delivery or renewable energy side.
Our client is a rapidly scaling data center developer/operator with substantial financial backing, a high‑growth AI and hyper scale build out pipeline, and a nationwide portfolio of mission‑critical sites. This organization invests heavily in engineering excellence, grid interconnection, and substation resilience to support multi‑gigawatt deployments across the U.S. This role sits at the intersection of power delivery and digital infrastructure, partnering closely with transmission providers, EPCs, utilities, and internal data center design teams.
Opportunity to sit 100% remote from Texas.
Key responsibilities can include:
- Bring electrical design/substation design experience in-house and make recommendations & reviews to projects and support efforts by third parties.
- Support utility engagement, EPC interfaces, and construction partners to resolve field issues, respond to RFIs, and provide construction support through energization.
- Participate in QA/QC processes and internal design reviews.Ensure designs meet utility interconnection requirements, utility construction standards, and applicable codes (ANSI, IEEE, IEC, NESC).
- Interface with different stakeholders including EPCs, developers, OEMs, etc.
Candidate qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- 3-10+ years of experience in substation physical design -- or experience with broader electrical high-voltage design and exposure to design review, system studies, high-voltage engineering.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or equivalent CAD tools.
- Strong understanding of HV/EHV equipment (breakers, switches, transformers, buswork, control buildings, grounding systems) a plus.
- Familiarity with utility standards and interconnection processes.
*Must be based currently in the US for consideration.
*Must bring minimum 3 years of US project/employer experience.
