Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor a team of controls engineers, technicians, and project engineers
- Provide technical direction, coaching, and career development
- Allocate resources across multiple projects and ensure delivery timelines are met
Engineering & Technical Oversight
- Oversee the design, programming, and commissioning of Building Automation Systems
- Ensure systems meet data center uptime, redundancy, and reliability standards
- Drive best practices in controls architecture, integration, and cybersecurity
Project Delivery
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and contractors on project execution
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget
- Review engineering deliverables including control drawings, sequences of operation, and system designs
System Optimization & Innovation
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and performance of BAS solutions
- Implement advanced control strategies for cooling systems, airflow management, and energy usage
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Act as the technical point of contact for internal teams and external clients
- Work closely with data center operators, design consultants, and equipment vendors
- Support business development with technical input when required
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field)
- 7-10+ years of experience in Building Automation / Controls Engineering
- 2-5+ years of technical leadership or management experience
- Strong experience working in data centers or other mission-critical environments
Technical Skills & Experience:
- Expertise in BAS platforms such as:
- Siemens (Desigo, Apogee)
- Johnson Controls (Metasys)
- Honeywell (EBI, Niagara)
- Schneider Electric (EcoStruxure)
- Trane or Distech Controls
- Strong knowledge of:
- HVAC systems and mechanical infrastructure
- PLC/DDC programming
- Communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks)
- Commissioning and troubleshooting of control systems
- Experience with:
- Data center cooling systems (CRAC/CRAH, chillers)
- Redundancy designs (N+1, 2N architectures)
- Integration between BAS, EPMS, and SCADA systems
Desired Skills (Nice to Have):
- Experience in hyperscale or colocation data centers
- Knowledge of energy efficiency standards and sustainability initiatives
- Familiarity with edge computing environments
- Professional certifications (e.g., PE, PMP, or relevant BAS certifications)
