A well-established, multidisciplinary civil engineering firm in the Midwest, renowned for its commitment to quality and long-standing client relationships, is seeking an experienced Professional Land Surveyor to lead its Survey Department in Frankfort, Illinois. With a growing backlog of ALTA, boundary, and construction surveying projects, this is an excellent opportunity to manage a talented team, oversee complex projects, and drive operational excellence within a respected organization. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with strong leadership skills to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate survey crews to ensure efficient scheduling and timely completion of all field assignments.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between clients and internal teams, providing clear communication on project scope, progress, and deliverables.
  • Develop and review project budgets and proposals, ensuring accuracy and alignment with client and company objectives.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of field materials and equipment, recommending upgrades or new purchases to support operational needs.
  • Direct research efforts using various resources to gather property and project data, ensuring thorough and reliable documentation.
  • Interpret field data and deliver precise calculations for boundary lines, easements, and other survey elements, integrating results into CAD systems.

Qualifications & Desired Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field with required surveying coursework.
  • Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS).
  • Strong understanding of municipal standards and regulations, including subdivisions, easements, and annexations.
  • Advanced knowledge of professional land surveying practices and applicable standards.
  • Proficiency with surveying software and tools, including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office Suite, and Trimble Business Center.
  • Hands-on experience with surveying equipment such as total stations, GNSS receivers, and data collectors (preferred).
