Geotechnical Department Manager
Position Overview:
The Geotechnical Department Manager will lead the geotechnical engineering division, overseeing technical operations, project delivery, and team development. This leadership role is responsible for driving departmental growth, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining strong client relationships across transportation, infrastructure, and commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides strategic leadership for the geotechnical department, including business development and operational oversight.
- Manages and mentors a team of engineers and technical staff, fostering professional growth and collaboration.
- Oversees geotechnical investigations, analysis, and design for a variety of projects.
- Reviews and approves technical reports, proposals, and project deliverables.
- Maintains and expands client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor on geotechnical solutions.
- Ensures compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and quality control procedures.
- Monitors departmental budgets, resource allocation, and profitability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering (Master's preferred).
- Minimum of 8-10 years of geotechnical engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of TxDOT standards and geotechnical design principles.
- Proven ability to manage teams, budgets, and complex projects.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client management skills.
- Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
