Base Salary: $155,000 - $205,000 (DOE)

A well‑established General Contractor in the Greater Seattle region is seeking a highly skilled Heavy Civil Estimator to support pursuits across public works, transportation, utilities, and infrastructure. This individual will play a critical role in competitive bid preparation, cost analysis, and strategic preconstruction planning.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely estimates for heavy civil projects
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and RFP documents to determine project scope
  • Lead quantity take‑offs, cost assemblies, and subcontractor/vendor solicitations
  • Prepare bid packages, proposals, schedules, and value‑engineering options
  • Evaluate subcontractor pricing and ensure complete scope coverage
  • Support project teams post‑award with budget clarification and handoff
  • Maintain strong industry relationships with agencies, vendors, and subcontractors

Experience Needed

  • 5-15+ years of estimating experience in Heavy Civil Construction
    (earthwork, utilities, bridges, transportation, water/wastewater, site development, etc.)
  • Proven experience preparing estimates on projects ranging from $5M-$150M+
  • Strong knowledge of unit pricing, self‑perform cost structures, and risk assessment
  • Experience working with regional public agencies (City of Seattle, WSDOT, King County, Port of Seattle, local municipalities)
  • Proficiency in industry software (HCSS HeavyBid, InEight/Hard Dollar, Bluebeam, Agtek, or similar)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple pursuits simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive problem‑solving mindset
