Hydraulic Project Manager - Raleigh, NC

Our client, a respected and well‑established engineering firm with a strong footprint across the Southeast, is seeking an experienced Hydraulic Project Manager to join their Raleigh, NC office. Key Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating, designing, and developing project scopes while contributing technical direction
  • Working independently and within a team on hydraulic design analyses and engineering studies
  • Performing hydrology and hydraulic analysis for transportation‑related design and construction
  • Developing stormwater management systems, including pond design and related infrastructure
  • Conducting fieldwork to verify existing site conditions
  • Extracting data and supporting design tasks using MicroStation and other drafting tools
  • Delivering complete roadway drainage design, including conveyance systems, erosion control, stormwater management, and outfall analysis
  • Planning and designing hydrologic and hydraulic improvements for roadway and drainage projects
  • Tackling a wide range of drainage‑related components: BMPs, watershed studies, stream and river systems, lake and estuary impacts, bridge and culvert hydraulics, and erosion/sediment control

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • North Carolina P.E. license or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Strong working knowledge of MicroStation, Microsoft Office tools, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with soil erosion and sedimentation control design
  • Proficiency in MicroStation, GEOPAK Drainage, and HEC‑RAS
  • Strong sense of urgency, initiative, and ability to meet client deadlines
  • Detail‑oriented team player with a commitment to maintaining a positive work environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong professional relationships
  • Familiarity with NCDOT guidelines for drainage studies and hydraulic design
  • Working knowledge of FHWA hydraulic design methodologies
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
  • Familiarity with OpenRoads Designer and SUDA is a plus

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • P.E. preferred
  • Minimum of 10+ years of transportation hydraulic design experience, ideally with NCDOT‑focused work
  • Experience managing projects and coordinating with diverse technical teams
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work independently
