Position Summary

Under general direction, this role is responsible for engineering activities related to Electrical and Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems at a power generation facility. The position requires independent work with minimal supervision, applying advanced electrical and I&C engineering principles. May also provide guidance to colleagues to ensure the delivery of high-quality, timely, and cost-effective technical solutions.


Qualifications and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution is required.

  • Advanced engineering degree preferred.

  • A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in large-scale, modern power plants-or an equivalent combination of training and education-with a focus on construction, operation, and maintenance of electrical and I&C systems.

  • Experience should include developing technical specifications, conducting economic evaluations, analyzing complex systems, and solving technical issues.

  • Hands-on experience with complex Distributed Control Systems (DCS) is required.

  • Familiarity with NERC standards and compliance procedures is preferred.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or an advanced degree may substitute for one (1) year of required experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage engineering analyses, activities, and initiatives.

  • Provide expert consultation to resolve equipment and system issues.

  • Support procedure development and recommend equipment improvements or replacements.

  • Prepare and review design changes and calculations in line with applicable standards.

  • Develop technical specifications, cost estimates, and bid evaluations for equipment and maintenance projects.

  • Collaborate with internal departments to analyze complex plant issues and propose design or operational improvements.

  • Act as a liaison with other teams and leadership on system performance and reliability.

  • Provide technical support during outages and off-hours emergencies as needed.

  • Take ownership of assigned systems and proactively identify opportunities for performance improvements.

  • Investigate equipment failures and recommend preventative measures.

  • Monitor and trend system performance to ensure safe and reliable operation.

  • Support DCS troubleshooting and recommend system modifications.

  • Coordinate activities with external consultants as necessary.

  • Comply with all safety regulations and complete required training.

  • Adhere to environmental compliance standards and report any incidents immediately.

  • Support regulatory compliance efforts, including evidence documentation and familiarity with internal compliance programs.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to access all areas of the facility, including climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.

  • Must adhere to protective safety measures and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.


Working Conditions

  • Occasional travel and non-standard work hours may be required.

  • Exposure to typical industrial environmental conditions in certain areas of the facility.
