Lead Transmission & Distribution Engineer
A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Transmission and Distribution Engineering Lead to support electric utility clients in designing and deploying resilient, future-ready power systems. This high-impact role blends technical leadership, project management, and mentorship, offering the opportunity to shape infrastructure that powers communities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and review of transmission and distribution lines (overhead and underground)
- Ensure compliance with NESC and RUS standards
- Specify equipment, materials, and assemblies to meet client needs
- Guide permitting processes and support field operations during construction
- Mentor junior engineers and develop training programs
- Collaborate with utility personnel, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams
- Assist clients in developing standards for protection and controls
- Stay current with code requirements and emerging technologies
Requirements:
- Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited university (power focus preferred)
- Current PE license (or ability to obtain in relevant states)
- 5+ years of experience in electric utility engineering
- Proficiency in PLS-CADD, O-Calc, and AutoCAD
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Experience working with public utilities and infrastructure projects
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass background/drug screening
