Manager, Transmission & Substation Engineering
Position Summary:
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transmission and Substation Engineering and Design Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for the planning, design, and execution of high-voltage transmission lines and substation projects. This role requires a strong technical background, leadership capabilities, and a strategic mindset to ensure the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage engineering teams in the design and development of transmission lines (69kV to 500kV) and substations.
- Oversee project lifecycle from conceptual design through detailed engineering, procurement support, and construction coordination.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, NESC, NEC), utility requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to define project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables including one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, grounding studies, and physical layout drawings.
- Mentor and develop engineering staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Manage resource allocation, workload balancing, and performance evaluations.
- Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, estimates, and client presentations.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred
- 10+ years of experience in transmission and substation engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of utility standards, grid interconnection requirements, and protection & control systems.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- PMP certification or formal project management training.
