Mechanical Engineer (Dallas / Austin)

Responsibilities:

  • Produce contract documents including plans and specifications
  • Perform heating/cooling and system sizing calculations
  • Develop process and control schematics
  • Prepare contract drawings and specifications
  • Create control descriptions
  • Mentor and train junior mechanical engineers
  • Prepare construction and design cost estimates
  • Manage mechanical HVAC and odor control components of small to medium-sized infrastructure projects
  • Collaborate with clients and internal project teams
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams across various engineering domains
  • Prepare technical memorandums and reports
  • Contribute to large or complex projects by completing assigned portions
  • Assist in developing mechanical design and analysis strategies
  • Carry out design analysis, detailing, and presentation
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies or inconsistencies in design outputs
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency in calculations, drawings, and specifications
  • Continuously improve technical knowledge and skills
  • Evaluate and refine existing standards for project-specific applications
  • Maintain professional relationships within the team
  • Plan and sequence tasks effectively to ensure timely completion
  • Review work for correctness and alignment with project goals
  • Monitor project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Apply technical standards and guidelines consistently
  • Lead small projects or components of larger efforts
  • Navigate project challenges to maintain progress
  • Participate in site visits during construction and operational phases
  • Travel as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 6-12 years of experience in mechanical systems design, including HVAC, odor control, fire protection, and water systems
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Proficiency in mechanical design for infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of national and local energy codes
  • Expertise in NFPA 820 and hazardous/classified area design
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs and develop control schematics
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Self-motivated and capable of independent decision-making
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to manage pressure and uncertainty professionally
  • Comfortable with public speaking

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD
