Mechanical Engineer - HYBRID
The Mechanical Engineer will contribute to a variety of MEP-related design assignments, applying standard engineering techniques to smaller-scale projects or portions of larger efforts. This role offers opportunities for continued professional development and growth within the mechanical discipline, with guidance and support from senior engineering staff. The engineer will assist in delivering project work on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with applicable industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Begins taking ownership of project designs under the supervision of a licensed engineer and within the individual's technical expertise
Develops design concepts and approaches with conceptual direction and oversight
Conducts engineering analyses and studies using industry-standard software
Leads and reviews the preparation of technical drawings, ensuring accuracy and clarity
Provides feedback and quality checks on work completed by design team members
Participates in project meetings with clients, stakeholders, and external collaborators
Coordinates with authorities having jurisdiction to ensure compliance with codes and regulations
Contributes to budget planning for mechanical scope and manages discipline-specific labor hours
Supports project scheduling and plans mechanical deliverables to meet timeline requirements
Performs load calculations, system sizing, and equipment selection based on project criteria
Collaborates with other disciplines and stakeholders on space and equipment coordination
Participates in internal kickoff and ongoing design coordination meetings
Conducts technical reviews of designs before final quality assurance checks
Responds to contractor and vendor inquiries during bidding and construction phases
Conducts site visits during construction to monitor installation against design documents
Reviews submittals and shop drawings for compliance with project requirements
Maintains organized records of project communications and documentation
Assists with mentoring and knowledge-sharing for junior staff or early-career engineers
Stays informed on industry developments through ongoing education and training
May support the project management team with specific project-related duties as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited institution
Minimum of four years of relevant design and analysis experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Proficiency with Revit software
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Familiarity with fundamental engineering principles, practices, and standards
