Medical Planner
Position: Medical Planner - Healthcare Architecture (Hybrid, Phoenix)
A healthcare-focused architecture team is seeking a Medical Planner to support the design and planning of innovative clinical environments. This hybrid role, based in Phoenix, is suited for professionals with a minimum of five years of experience, up to senior-level planners with deep expertise in healthcare design. The position involves translating clinical operations into architectural solutions that enhance patient care, staff efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and coordination of clinical spaces, including floor plans, interior elevations, ceiling layouts, and medical equipment planning.
- Provide oversight or mentorship to project team members, depending on experience level.
- Ensure continuity of design intent throughout documentation and implementation phases.
- Participate in conceptual design and planning of healthcare facilities, aligning architectural solutions with client operational models.
- Serve as a liaison for client inquiries and facilitate real-time problem-solving with clinical stakeholders.
- Apply healthcare codes, licensing standards, and regulatory requirements to assigned project segments.
- Prepare and coordinate design documentation in accordance with firm standards and industry best practices.
- Integrate research and evidence-based design principles into planning strategies.
- Lead or participate in project meetings focused on coordination, technical issues, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Document client meetings and prepare coordination materials as needed.
- Collaborate on project budgeting and maintain accountability to schedules and utilization targets.
- Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and contributing to proposals and planning.
Qualifications
- Professional degree in Architecture or a related field.
- Architectural licensure strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare design and planning; senior-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Sustainable design accreditation is a plus.
- Proficiency in architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling tools (e.g., Rhino, Grasshopper).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of healthcare planning concepts, including patient safety and evidence-based design.
- Knowledge of healthcare facility design guidelines, building codes, and accessibility standards.
