Remote Civil Engineer (10+ Years' Experience)
A multidisciplinary design firm is seeking a highly qualified Civil Engineer with 10+ years of relevant experience to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely within New York State, collaborating on a diverse portfolio of public and private projects, including parks and greenspaces, transportation, campuses and universities, and stormwater and utility infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee design work for civil engineering projects, including paving and roadway design, grading and drainage, stormwater management, utility design (sanitary sewer and water), site layout, and erosion and sediment control.
- Lead the development of conceptual layouts, construction drawings, specifications, design calculations, reports, quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, SWPPPs, and stormwater calculations.
- Ensure quality work is completed within established budgets and timelines.
- Collaborate with project managers and senior staff on project status, schedules, and design/construction issues.
- Coordinate, delegate, and review work of junior designers, providing mentorship and guidance.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, agency representatives, contractors, and clients.
- Coordinate with consultants and local/state agencies as needed.
- Conduct or coordinate construction administration and periodic site visits to monitor quality and progress.
- Attend meetings with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
- Preference for candidates with experience in stormwater and utility design, including stormwater management practices, conveyance systems, SWPPPs, and water/sewer design.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Landscape Architecture.
- 10+ years of relevant civil engineering experience.
- NYS PE or EIT preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with AutoCAD, Civil3D, or MicroStation; HydroCAD or other stormwater modeling software preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Solid understanding of construction methods and construction administration.
- Familiarity with local permitting agencies and jurisdictions.
