Senior Airport Planner
A well‑established aviation planning and engineering firm is seeking a Senior Airport Planner to support and lead complex airport planning, design, and infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for someone who brings strong technical planning experience, advanced CAD capabilities, and the ability to guide project deliverables from concept through detailed planning. The position is based in New York City with a hybrid work schedule.
The Senior Airport Planner will play a key role in developing airport layout plans, leading facility and site planning efforts, supporting airspace and environmental studies, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of technical CAD outputs. This individual will collaborate closely with planning and engineering teams while also contributing to client‑facing deliverables.
Key responsibilities include: * Leading the production of airport planning documents, drawings, and exhibits using AutoCAD Civil 3D
* Guiding the development of airport layout plans, facility planning layouts, and long‑range planning documents
* Overseeing the preparation of existing conditions plans, demolition plans, proposed layouts, and detailed design sheets
* Reviewing and implementing design revisions, redlines, and planning updates across multiple project types
* Ensuring all planning and CAD work aligns with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and project goals
* Managing multiple concurrent assignments, timelines, and deliverable packages
* Maintaining strong communication with team members and contributing to high‑quality client deliverables
Qualifications and skills: * At least 6 years of experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D in an aviation, civil, or planning environment; AviPlan familiarity is beneficial
* Experience working within airport environments or on airport‑related planning projects preferred
* Strong understanding of airport planning concepts, FAA standards, and infrastructure layout requirements
* Ability to learn new processes quickly and adapt to different software applications
* Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage deadlines
* Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to participate in client discussions
* Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
* Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
