Job Title: Senior Design Manager - Low Voltage / Technology Systems

Location: San Bernardino, CA or Seattle, WA (Remote considered with travel)

Employment Type: Full-Time with up to 25% travel

Summary:

This is a senior-level, client-facing role that blends technical leadership with strategic oversight. The ideal candidate will lead the design and coordination of low voltage systems, primarily telecom, with the ability to review and guide AV and security designs. This role offers growth into full project ownership and leadership, including proposal development, scope definition, and team management. Ideal for someone with deep BIM experience, strong client engagement skills, and a background in telecom and AV systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and documentation of low voltage systems (telecom, AV, security, structured cabling) using Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
  • Serve as the discipline lead on projects, overseeing drawing sets, specifications, and coordination with other trades.
  • Make high-level design decisions and guide the technical direction of telecom and technology systems.
  • Review AV and security designs and provide input or final decisions.
  • Act as a client-facing technical advisor, participating in meetings and guiding project strategy.
  • Support proposal development, scope definition, and fee estimation for low voltage work.
  • Mentor junior drafters and engineers, ensuring quality and consistency across deliverables.
  • Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, and construction teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Travel to Southern California project sites approximately 1-2 times per month.

Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of experience in low voltage systems design, with a strong focus on telecom and AV.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam (must-have), and Navisworks.
  • Familiarity with TIA/EIA, BICSI, and NEC standards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills.
  • Experience in proposal writing, scope definition, and strategic planning.
  • Certifications such as RCDD, DCDC, or CTS are a plus.
