A well-established global technical and environmental consulting group is expanding its ecology capability in Queensland and is seeking a Senior Ecologist to play a key role in delivering complex mining and resources projects across Australia.

This is an opportunity to join a multidisciplinary consultancy working across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage approvals through to operations, closure, and rehabilitation, with strong technical leadership and genuine scope to shape the ecology function locally.

The Role

You will be a senior technical contributor and trusted advisor to major resources clients, leading ecological assessments and supporting approvals for large-scale projects. The role offers a strong balance of technical delivery, client interaction, and internal leadership.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading terrestrial ecology assessments for mining and infrastructure projects
  • Delivering flora & fauna surveys, impact assessments, and technical reporting
  • Supporting state and federal approvals (EPBC Act, QLD legislation)
  • Providing expert advice to internal project teams and external stakeholders
  • Mentoring junior ecologists and contributing to capability growth
  • Working closely with environmental, approvals, and engineering teams in an integrated model

About You

You are a senior ecology professional with strong technical credibility in the resources sector and experience operating in complex approvals environments.

Key requirements:

  • Degree-qualified in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
  • 7+ years' experience delivering ecology services in Australia
  • Strong knowledge of QLD and federal environmental approvals frameworks
  • Proven experience leading field programs and technical reports
  • Confident communicator with clients, regulators, and internal teams
  • BAM accreditation or eligibility is highly regarded
