A well-established global technical and environmental consulting group is expanding its ecology capability in Queensland and is seeking a Senior Ecologist to play a key role in delivering complex mining and resources projects across Australia.
This is an opportunity to join a multidisciplinary consultancy working across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage approvals through to operations, closure, and rehabilitation, with strong technical leadership and genuine scope to shape the ecology function locally.
The Role
You will be a senior technical contributor and trusted advisor to major resources clients, leading ecological assessments and supporting approvals for large-scale projects. The role offers a strong balance of technical delivery, client interaction, and internal leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading terrestrial ecology assessments for mining and infrastructure projects
- Delivering flora & fauna surveys, impact assessments, and technical reporting
- Supporting state and federal approvals (EPBC Act, QLD legislation)
- Providing expert advice to internal project teams and external stakeholders
- Mentoring junior ecologists and contributing to capability growth
- Working closely with environmental, approvals, and engineering teams in an integrated model
About You
You are a senior ecology professional with strong technical credibility in the resources sector and experience operating in complex approvals environments.
Key requirements:
- Degree-qualified in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
- 7+ years' experience delivering ecology services in Australia
- Strong knowledge of QLD and federal environmental approvals frameworks
- Proven experience leading field programs and technical reports
- Confident communicator with clients, regulators, and internal teams
- BAM accreditation or eligibility is highly regarded
