Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000

My client, a respected environmental consultancy, is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner to join their environmental planning team. This role offers the opportunity to lead and deliver a broad range of CEQA and NEPA environmental documentation for planning and development initiatives, public infrastructure, habitat restoration, and climate resiliency projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Execution
- Manage and execute environmental planning and permitting projects
- Prepare and oversee complex CEQA and NEPA documents, including EIRs, EISs, IS/MNDs, CEs, and Addenda
- Coordinate with internal project teams to win and deliver projects
Technical Expertise & Leadership
- Provide guidance and oversight on environmental documentation and permitting strategies
- Mentor junior staff and ensure high-quality deliverables
- Present at public hearings and liaise with clients and regulatory agencies
Business Development
- Collaborate on proposals and marketing efforts
- Support strategic initiatives aimed at growing and diversifying the environmental planning practice
- Foster new and existing client relationships
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in environmental studies, planning, science, or related field
- 8+ years of experience preparing CEQA/NEPA documents with demonstrated project management success
- Strong understanding of California planning laws and regulations
- Proven ability to manage budgets and lead project teams
- Background in biology, ecology, restoration, or environmental science is advantageous
- Experience mentoring staff and developing business opportunities
Location & Flexibility
This position is open to candidates located anywhere within California, with a preference for Northern California. Hybrid work options are available, including remote, onsite at Northern CA offices, or a blend.
