Senior Forensic Structural Engineer
A well-established multidisciplinary firm specializing in architecture, engineering, and environmental consulting is seeking an experienced Engineer or Architect to join its forensic consulting team. This senior-level position offers the opportunity to lead technical investigations and contribute to the growth of a dynamic department. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong client-facing skills, particularly within the insurance and legal sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct forensic investigations of residential and commercial properties to determine the cause and extent of structural failures, water intrusion, roof damage, construction defects, and building system issues. 
- Assess damage resulting from natural disasters such as storms, hurricanes, and floods. 
- Research technical literature and apply engineering principles in line with industry codes and standards. 
- Prepare comprehensive forensic reports detailing findings and conclusions for clients. 
- Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely and high-quality execution. 
- Maintain regular communication with internal teams and external clients regarding project progress. 
- Perform field inspections, including site visits to homes, roofs, and crawlspaces. 
- Experience with walking surface evaluations and product defect analysis is a plus. 
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field (Master's preferred). 
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience, including at least 1 year in forensic investigations. 
- Familiarity with insurance and legal processes; deposition and expert witness experience is advantageous. 
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in both fieldwork and reporting. 
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. 
- Proven capability in technical writing and understanding of building structures. 
- Project management and leadership experience highly valued. 
- E.I.T certification required; P.E. or R.A. licensure preferred.
