Senior Interconnection Engineer
This role offers exposure to large-scale renewable projects and grid infrastructure initiatives, supporting the integration of new generation resources into the transmission network.
The Opportunity
You'll play a key role in delivering technical studies that support grid interconnection efforts, partnering cross-functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders. The position blends hands-on analytical work with client interaction, making it a strong fit for someone who enjoys both technical depth and collaboration.
Core Responsibilities
- Execute and oversee power system and interconnection studies tied to generation and high-voltage infrastructure projects
- Perform a range of simulations and analyses, such as:
- Steady-state and contingency power flow
- Fault current and protection-related studies
- Dynamic and stability assessments
- Transient behavior evaluations
- Performance validation of inverter-based resources
- Develop and refine electrical models for renewable plants and grid-connected systems
- Support model calibration, verification, and compliance alignment with regional grid operators and utilities
- Contribute to projects spanning renewables, transmission systems, substations, and broader grid modernization efforts
- Produce technical documentation including study reports, methodologies, and engineering packages
- Interface with clients through technical discussions, project updates, and occasional site engagement
- Assist in proposal development and scoping for new work
- Ensure deliverables meet applicable standards, operating requirements, and regulatory expectations
- Track updates in grid codes, interconnection requirements, and evolving industry practices
- Help identify opportunities to improve internal tools, modeling approaches, and study efficiency
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar technical discipline)
- Proven experience working on power systems studies, particularly related to interconnection
- Familiarity with at least one industry-standard modeling platform (e.g., PSSE, PSCAD, PowerWorld, etc.)
- Background in renewable integration, dynamic simulation, or transmission-level analysis
- Working knowledge of grid operations and interconnection frameworks
- Exposure to organized power markets or system operators is beneficial
- Understanding of key industry standards (NERC, IEEE, etc.) is helpful
- PE licensure preferred but not required
