The Role
This position is suited to an experienced Senior Structural Engineer with 10+ years of design and field experience who is looking to take on technically diverse projects with increasing responsibility.
The role involves a balance of structural design, investigations, client interaction, and construction support, with opportunities to take on project management responsibilities depending on experience and interest.
Projects include:
- New building design
- Existing building renovation and adaptive reuse
- Historic structures and restoration
- Steel, concrete, timber, and masonry systems
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and lead structural analysis and design for a wide variety of building types
- Conduct site investigations, condition assessments, and structural evaluations
- Develop structural concepts, calculations, drawings, and specifications
- Prepare feasibility studies, technical reports, and construction documentation
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Provide construction support including site visits, inspections, and issue resolution
- Review submittals, RFIs, and contractor queries
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations
- Direct specialty consultants and testing agencies during investigative phases
- Develop practical, cost‑effective engineering solutions within budget constraints
- Participate in public and private bidding processes
- Mentor and support junior engineers and technical staff
Project Management Responsibilities (as applicable):
- Monitor budgets, schedules, and resourcing
- Review monthly billing and vendor invoices
- Track project costs and performance
- Collaborate with other project leaders on complex structural issues
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 10+ years of relevant structural engineering experience
- Strong experience with building structures (steel, concrete, timber, masonry)
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and structural analysis/design software
- BIM experience (Revit or similar) is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team environment
