Position: Survey CAD Technician
Location: Indiana
Overview:
A growing civil engineering and surveying firm is seeking a Survey CAD Technician to support a variety of land development, transportation, and infrastructure projects across Indiana. This role focuses on producing accurate survey drawings and collaborating closely with field crews and project managers to deliver high-quality deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare survey plats, boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, and topographic maps using CAD software
- Process field data collected by survey crews (GPS, total stations, lidar, etc.)
- Develop base maps, easement exhibits, and construction staking plans
- Perform quality control checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of drawings
- Coordinate with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to meet project deadlines
- Maintain organized project files and adhere to company CAD standards
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience in surveying, drafting, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in survey drafting or CAD production
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (or similar CAD platforms)
- Strong understanding of survey terminology, geometry, and coordinate systems
- Ability to interpret field notes, plats, and legal descriptions
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
- Familiarity with Indiana survey standards and local agency requirements
- Exposure to point cloud processing or advanced modeling tools
- Knowledge of drafting for land development or transportation projects
