Transportation Project Manager - Kennewick, WA
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Lead and manage all phases of transportation engineering projects, from planning through final design and implementation.
- Develop and manage scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and contracts to ensure successful and timely project delivery.
- Oversee technical execution in partnership with project engineers, EITs, designers, and drafting staff.
- Ensure project compliance with relevant standards, including local jurisdictions and state transportation departments.
- Support quality assurance/quality control processes to maintain technical excellence.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a primary client contact, building long-term relationships through consistent communication and high-quality service.
- Manage expectations, facilitate meetings, and coordinate closely with public agencies and partnering consultants.
- Represent the organization in community, agency, and industry meetings as needed.
Business Development
- Lead marketing and business development efforts for transportation pursuits.
- Identify new project opportunities and support strategic growth within the transportation market.
- Prepare and lead proposal development, interview presentations, and pursuit strategies.
- Assist in maintaining and expanding the organization's market share within transportation services.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to developing professionals within the transportation group.
- Foster a collaborative team culture that emphasizes innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Assist leadership in implementing group-wide goals, improving processes, and supporting long-term strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.), with the ability to obtain licensure in the required state(s) within six months if not already held.
- 15+ years of experience in transportation engineering.
- 10+ years of professional licensure experience.
- Demonstrated success managing transportation projects for public agencies.
- Proven track record with project delivery, client management, and business development.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience working with state transportation departments (e.g., DOT agencies) and local municipalities.
- Previous leadership or mentorship roles within a transportation engineering team.
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary or multi-office project teams.
