Audio Visual Engineer

Position Summary

This role involves delivering advanced technical support and engineering insights to senior staff, ensuring that all project designs align with required specifications, codes, and standards. The individual will serve as the lead designer within a small team, managing multiple mid-sized projects or one large-scale initiative.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of 2-5 designers and CAD professionals.
• Evaluate and process system and equipment documentation.
• Draft project-specific technical specifications.
• Create detailed operational sequences for AV systems.
• Apply knowledge of system testing and commissioning procedures.
• Coordinate across architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical disciplines.
• Design multiple AV systems concurrently.
• Adapt to fast-paced environments and shifting priorities.
• Maintain professional communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop single-line diagrams, including conduit and backbone cabling layouts.
• Align design work with procurement and specification requirements.
• Review and verify design accuracy before submission.
• Conduct cost-optimization and value engineering assessments.
• Participate in design meetings and collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors.
• Work closely with project managers to balance design goals with budget constraints.
• Resolve design conflicts and clarify technical drawings.
• Support construction teams by providing timely design updates and attending coordination meetings.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• AVIXA CTS-I and CTS-D certifications required.
• Preferred certifications include Crestron, Extron, and QSC.
• Familiarity with AV system programming (e.g., Crestron, Extron, Biamp, QSC).
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in AV systems engineering.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Skills & Competencies

• Expertise in AV system design, including audio distribution, DSPs, control systems, digital signage, and projection technologies.
• Hands-on experience with products from leading manufacturers (e.g., Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Shure, QSC, Epson, Panasonic).
• Understanding of building codes and regulatory standards.
• Ability to document work according to company protocols.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Oracle experience is a plus.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Capable of working under pressure and adapting to evolving project needs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-driven, collaborative, and detail-oriented.
• Comfortable interacting with all levels of staff, clients, and vendors.
