Bridge Engineer

A well-established engineering firm is seeking a Bridge Project Engineer to join its team, with a focus on bridge design, load rating, and inspection. The ideal candidate will be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Pennsylvania with at least six years of experience in structural engineering, particularly involving PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) projects.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex and engaging infrastructure projects and is best suited for a motivated, team-oriented professional who is eager to take on increasing levels of responsibility. The position follows a hybrid work model, with office presence required at one of the firm's Pennsylvania locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering efforts on bridge replacement and rehabilitation projects.
  • Mentor junior staff and support the development of the structural team.
  • Prepare and review structural and geometric calculations for bridge designs.
  • Oversee quality control for design files and plans.
  • Manage the coordination of plans, specifications, cost estimates, and pay items in compliance with PennDOT/PTC standards.
  • Conduct and review bridge load ratings and inspections.
  • Prepare detailed reports aligned with PennDOT/PTC requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and lead structural designers and inspectors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • PE license in Pennsylvania or eligibility through reciprocity.
  • Certified Bridge Safety Inspector (CBSI) preferred.
  • Minimum of six years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with PennDOT, PTC, and municipal projects.
  • Strong communication and client relationship skills.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation Connects, Open Roads, and Open Bridge Design software.
