Bridge Inspection Team Leader
This role is available in offices located in Latham, Poughkeepsie, or Syracuse, New York. The firm is seeking a seasoned engineering professional to join our team, contributing to both fieldwork and design efforts. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in structural engineering and inspection, with a commitment to safety, quality, and mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Lead and perform biennial inspections of bridges, thoroughly documenting existing conditions and ensuring all assessments align with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate closely with project managers and quality assurance teams to uphold project timelines and maintain high standards of precision and compliance.
- Evaluate and approve inspection documentation, verifying that all reports meet regulatory and internal benchmarks.
- Manage and monitor Work Zone Traffic Control subcontractors, ensuring safe and compliant operations during field activities.
- Participate in confined space inspections under appropriate supervision, adhering to safety protocols.
- Offer technical mentorship and training to junior engineers, supporting their professional growth and integration into the firm's culture and standards.
- Provide direct supervision to junior staff on specific engineering tasks and inspection assignments.
- During periods outside of inspection cycles, contribute to the design and structural analysis of reinforced concrete, steel, and other metal structures, tailored to client specifications and project needs.
- Guide the creation of engineering models, technical drawings, and detailed specifications, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- Ensure all engineering designs are in full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures.
- Represent the firm at industry conferences, seminars, and networking events, promoting our services and expanding professional visibility.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, supporting the broader goals of the engineering team and firm.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in structural engineering or bridge inspection.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically or internationally, depending on project requirements and workload. Travel frequency may vary based on assigned responsibilities.
