About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Building Automation Design Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on designing, developing, and implementing building automation systems (BAS) for commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in HVAC controls, energy management systems, and integration of IoT technologies, while working collaboratively with project teams and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
System Design & Engineering:
- Develop detailed BAS designs including control drawings, wiring diagrams, and sequences of operation.
- Select appropriate hardware, sensors, controllers, and network components.
Project Coordination:
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure design meets specifications and timelines.
- Provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases.
Programming & Integration:
- Create and configure control logic, graphics, and user interfaces for BAS platforms.
- Integrate BAS with other building systems (lighting, security, energy management).
Compliance & Standards:
- Ensure designs comply with ASHRAE, NEC, and local building codes.
- Maintain documentation for all design and programming work.
Remote Support:
- Provide remote troubleshooting and technical assistance to field teams.
- Participate in virtual design reviews and client meetings.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
- 3+ years in BAS design and engineering.
- Proficiency with major BAS platforms (e.g., Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Trane).
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and control strategies.
- Familiarity with networking protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with energy optimization and IoT integration.
- Professional certifications (e.g., PE, LEED, or BAS-specific certifications).
