A nationally recognized multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consulting firm with a strong and growing presence in the Southwest is seeking an entrepreneurially minded Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead and expand their geotechnical practice in Phoenix, AZ. The Role
This position is equal parts technical leadership and business development. You will be responsible for growing the firm's geotechnical service offerings in the Phoenix market - building client relationships, pursuing and winning work, and delivering high-quality geotechnical engineering across a broad range of project types. You will have the autonomy to shape the practice and the support of a nationally integrated team behind you.
Responsibilities
- Lead business development efforts in the Phoenix market, including client cultivation, proposal preparation, and pursuit strategy across sectors such as commercial/mixed-use development, infrastructure, industrial, and public works
- Serve as the technical lead and project manager on geotechnical investigations, analyses, and report deliverables
- Perform and oversee subsurface investigation programs, foundation design, slope stability, seismic analysis, and grading recommendations
- Build and mentor a local geotechnical team as the practice grows
- Collaborate with in-house civil, environmental, and structural disciplines to deliver integrated project solutions
- Represent the firm at industry events, with client accounts, and within the local engineering community
- Develop and execute a strategic growth plan for the Phoenix geotechnical practice
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical) or related field
- PE licensure required; Arizona registration preferred or ability to obtain promptly
- 10+ years of geotechnical consulting experience with demonstrated project management and client-facing responsibilities
- Established relationships within the Phoenix/Southwest development and construction market strongly preferred
- Proven track record of winning and managing work, with experience preparing proposals and managing project budgets
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to attract, develop, and retain talent
- Experience across a diverse mix of project types including land development, infrastructure, and commercial/industrial sectors
