Highway Project Engineer
A leading civil engineering firm is seeking a motivated and experienced Project Engineer to join its highway design team in Columbus, OH. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of transportation infrastructure projects, contributing to the planning, design, and delivery of roadway improvements that enhance mobility and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate engineering tasks for highway and roadway design projects.
- Analyze survey data, maps, and reports to inform design decisions.
- Perform design calculations and prepare construction cost estimates.
- Develop detailed engineering plans, specifications, and estimates using tools such as OpenRoads, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Bluebeam.
- Manage internal design teams and coordinate with sub-consultants.
- Support proposal development and participate in client meetings.
- Ensure compliance with applicable design standards and regulations.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification required.
- Minimum of 5 years of highway/roadway design experience, including at least 3 years on DOT or municipal projects.
- Proficiency in design software including OpenRoads, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Bluebeam.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
