Power Systems Engineer

Job Summary

A leading engineering consulting firm is seeking a Power Systems Engineer to support low and medium voltage power systems studies for healthcare and commercial infrastructure projects. This fully remote role offers the opportunity to work on critical facilities, ensuring power reliability, safety, and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform power systems studies including short circuit, load flow, arc flash, coordination, and motor starting analysis.
  • Develop and review one-line diagrams, equipment specifications, and system layouts.
  • Use tools such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower to model and analyze electrical systems.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and recommendations for clients.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA 70E, NEC, IEEE, and other applicable codes.
  • Collaborate with project managers, electrical designers, and clients to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Support design reviews, peer QA/QC, and field investigations as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in power systems analysis and design.
  • Proficiency with power systems modeling software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, EasyPower).
  • Strong understanding of low and medium voltage distribution systems.
  • Familiarity with healthcare and commercial facility requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT with intent to pursue PE.
  • Experience with hospital or mission-critical facility design.
  • Knowledge of generator sizing, UPS systems, and grounding studies.
